A3 Poster The Man of the Sea
Guardian of the water's edge, he sings with the tide. The ancients called him by many names, but the Sumerians already knew him as Enki, lord of the sweet abyss, or Ea, he who dwells in the water. It was he who, emerging from the belly of the deep, brought to the surface the secrets that sustain the world: sowing and harvesting, sacred geometry, the alchemy of construction. But even more importantly, the miracle of the written word and, with it, the power of immortality.
In times of confusion, when the soul is a rudderless ship and the horizon seems to have been swallowed by the mist, it is he who offers succor.
Local fishermen claim that every June 23rd conditions become favorable for those who know how to see, when the gentle shores of Barcelona's Mar Vella open like a threshold to the invisible, and the man of the sea reveals himself, just for an instant, amidst the shadows of twilight and the glow of the bonfires.
All his wisdom is manifested in arcana number 9 of the Tarot Profanus.

INSPIRATION AND SYMBOLISM
Bring ancestral history to your walls: the oracle of the depths, wisdom, and the inner journey.
In the waters where the ego dies, the spark of the eternal is born.
From the depths of ancient myths to the shores of Catalonia, the Man of the Sea embodies the primordial wisdom of the waters and the abysses of the human unconscious. Like ancient sea deities, such as Enki, who gifted humanity with writing, sacred geometry, and the civilizing arts, this amphibious guardian of the depths symbolizes introspection, inner guidance, and the serene strength needed to traverse the storms of life.
According to Catalan maritime folklore, fishermen say that during the night of Saint John, in the waters of the Mar Vella in Barcelona, this marine oracle emerges briefly between dusk and the bonfires to offer protection to lost souls seeking guidance.
Inspired by the Tarot Profanus collection, this striking print brings the mystery and depth of the Man of the Sea to your home or studio. A facsimile reproduction of the detailed illustration, drawn entirely by hand, this work becomes a serene piece filled with symbolism: a daily reminder to trust one's own intuition and discover the wisdom that arises from moments of silence and contemplation.
Designed by art historian Eugenia García Domínguez and contemporary artist Leandro García Pimentel, this print has been created for lovers of maritime legends, ancient mythology, tarot philosophy, and Catalan cultural heritage.

Behind the scenes
Who are we?
Eugènia and Leandro are us, two Argentinians who share not only Profānus, but also seventeen years of life together, and those still to come.
A historian and an artist who emigrated to Barcelona in 2025 seeking to understand our origins a little better. For this reason, we investigated the legends and myths of the Catalan territories, becoming captivated by their stories.
Our dream is for everyone to fall in love with Catalonia just as we have.
