La Molsosa is not only a spirit of the forest, but one of the last traces of the Mother Goddesses. She knows the secrets of the forest and embodies fertility, protection, the hidden cycle of life. No one knows when she was born. Some murmur that she is older than coal, older than the holm oaks, and that her flesh is not flesh, but lichen and fungus; that she breathes with the damp rhythm of the mycelium.

She drags herself heavily through the undergrowth, covered in moss and branches. Her breath, they say, can revive even the last shoot of sleeping sap, and that if any person manages to win her favour, they prosper effortlessly, because she reveals to them where the best wood lies, when the storm is coming, which tree still keeps fire in its heart.
